EVENT: “Writing Between a Rock and a Hard Place” Noir Writing Webinar w/ Libby Cudmore
EDITOR’S NOTE: This event took place on May 12, 2021.
Someone inspirational (probably not Mahatma Gandhi) once said, “Be the change you want to see in the world.”
We want to see a world filled with kickass noir writers, ready and willing to submit their best, darkest, bleakest stuff to the pages of Rock and a Hard Place Magazine and the rest of the RHP publication empire (plug: we’re still accepting submissions for Under the Thumb: Stories of Police Oppression).
So… if that’s the change we’re looking for…
…we figured we’d do our level best to turn you into the kind of writers we want to read.
Join us on May 12 at 7 PM for our inaugural event in our Rock and a Hard Place virtual learning space, as RHP Associate Editor Libby Cudmore helps you sharpen your noir-writing skills and hone your craft.
The webinar, “Writing Between a Rock and a Hard Place: Writing Noir with Libby Cudmore” is for writers just starting out in the genre, or established writers who want to take their noir writing to the next level.
In this two-hour workshop, author and editor Libby Cudmore, (The Big Rewind) will encourage your worst impulses--on paper, that is. Learn the art of making bad decisions, worse mistakes and finding trouble on the pages of your notebook as you delve deep into the dark alleys of noir fiction. Start with character and setting exercises, then get started on your tales of woe with space to write. Other members of the RHP Editorial Board may cameo to assist writers in getting into the dark nooks and crannies of their psyches. Tickets are $60, and proceeds will go towards supporting RHP Press.
We’re excited for this webinar workshop — our first sponsored by Rock and a Hard Place Press. When we launched RHP, we envisioned it as something beyond just a publishing house… we want RHP to be a thriving artistic community. We’re excited to be able to do more of these types of events, to engage writers and creators in the exploration of craft and the business end of publishing, and we hope you’ll consider joining us for a fun and enlightening evening as we explore what clicks in the World of Noir.
