Support Rock and a Hard Place
Real Talk: Running an independent crime fiction publishing house ain’t easy. There’s a lot of hustle involved in maximizing payments to authors and creatives, because ultimately, we want to pay our contributors well for sharing their stories and art with us, and with all of you, the Rock and a Hard Place reader. We also want to keep our cover prices low, in order to keep our publications accessible to the general public. If you believe in our mission of lifting up stories of struggle about characters that are dealing with a whole mess of issues, there are ways you can support us and help keep the lights on:
Patreon
Rock and a Hard Place has built a nice little community for our Patreon subscribers. At the minimum contribution level of just $1 per month, you can gain access to a host of exclusive content, including our Rock and a Hard Place Podcast episodes with the authors and editors, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the stories you love from the pages of RHP. There’s also downloadable versions of our “Fun w/ RHP” interactive features, Patreon-exclusive stories, and more. You can join the RHP Patreon team at patreon.com/rhpmag.
Fractured Atlas
RHP is partnering with non-profit arts booster, Fractured Atlas, to take part in their fiscal sponsorship program for arts organizations. Through fiscal sponsorship under Fractured Atlas, Rock and a Hard Place can access certain non-profit benefits, including tax deductible donations from our supporters and non-profit grant funding. You can donate to Rock and a Hard Place through our Fractured Atlas fiscal sponsorship at fundraising.fracturedatlas.org/rock-and-a-hard-place-press-llc
Bonfire
What better way to show your RHP spirit than through some exclusive swag? You can score an RHP T-shirt, hoodie or mug via our Bonfire shop at bonfire.com/store/rock-and-a-hard-place-magazine/. You’ll look fashionable and support high-quality noir and dark fiction.
“Fix the World;” Support a Charitable Cause
We know things aren’t quite right. The divide between the haves and the have-nots, social injustice, systemic abuse of power, prejudice and bias — it’s rampant. These are the issues that our characters run into in the pages of Rock and a Hard Place, but they’re also real-life issues that real people are dealing with every day. In order to do our small part to address these societal problems, we’re looking to highlight different charitable causes that you can put your duckets behind to make a difference. If you contribute more than $10 to any of the below charities, hit us up at rockandahardplacesubmissions@gmail.com with a copy of your charitable receipt, and we’ll reward your generosity with some RHP stuff — maybe a complimentary copy of the magazine, maybe an ePub, maybe some nice, lean brisket — just a small token that says thanks for being a decent human.
PLEASE NOTE: The listing below is not an exhaustive listing of charitable causes, obvi. If you know of a worthwhile charity that seems aligned with the kinds of stories we’re interested in at Rock and a Hard Place Press, hit us up, and we’ll research and decide if we want to include them here.
